This is the last two UOAs I've done on the Mercedes engine in our Claas 850 forage harvester. It is rated at about 400 horsepower and has a full flow canister filter and a Fleetguard LF777 bypass filter that I added. Using Service Pro Premium 15w-40 CI-4 Plus but its been topped off some times with a Shell Rimula 15w-40 CJ-4. I have not changed the oil on the latest sample. Both samples were taken from a drain valve on the canister filter.

Hours 2591, 2945
Oil hours 324, 354

Iron 20, 24
Alum 1, 1
Copp 2, 3
Lead 2, 2
Sili 3, 4
Sodi 2, 3
Moly 124, 87
Boro 17, 14
Magn 1079, 851
Calc 1534, 1525
Phos 1054, 1079
Zinc 1285, 1311

Fuel Soot .2, .3
H2O Visc 13.5, 13.3
TBN 7.71, 4.58
Oxid 14, 16
Nitr 19, 12

So its 2 years between UOAs and we've only put 354 hours on it in that time. Next year, I'd anticipate putting more hours on it but I don't think it'll be considerably more. Wear metals are all nearly identical other than the TBN is significantly lower. I had the engine idling while I doing some other work on the machine and before I took the oil sample so I think that is why the fuel is a little higher. Do you think I should try and run it for another year or drain it out?

You easily have another year left in that load, given the current state and projected use. Very impressive, overall. You are no where near any condemnation limits in this load.

Service Pro really seems to turn in good numbers for you, in a wide range of equipment.

I presume the sump is fairly large? Much cheaper to UOA a year from now and then make a decision.

I'd run it based on those reports if it were mine. Soot is also remarkably low for the hours.

What is it's factory OCI?

The factory OCI is 250 or 500 hours depending on the sulfur content of the fuel you're using and if you're using an oil that meet Mercedes Benz 228.5 specs. The sump holds about 9 gallons.
