I was wondering if it was possible to use some kind of "T" with a hose between the fuel rail and fuel line connection to draw in fuel injector cleaner without something bad happening.

If you're mixing it with gas...mix it with gas.

Besides, your fuel rail will be under high pressure, unless you can tap it before the pump...which is inside the fuel tank in most vehicles.

Understand. There are injector services and kits that use the test port, somehow turning that pressure into vacuum or have pressure of their own.

A good fi kit will come with different hose lengths and adapters for connecting to the Schroeder valve and slowly mixing the additive to the fuel delivery spray.
I think it was GM fi system cleaner that states to clean their systems using that procedure. I haven't done it since the mid-nineties, things could be different.

Yes, thats what I'm trying to do. Does not have that valve from what I can see or any factory parts lists. Shop manual states adding a T from a SST fuel pressure test kit, all I can find.

You should see shrader valve type of fitting somewhere on or near the fuel rail you can tap into. Same port you would check your fuel pressure from. I do my FI cleanings this way and feel that it's the most complete way to clean injectors and the upper end.

I have never seen a system made to draw in the cleaner. I have used a MotorVac system which connects to the fuel rail and has its own fuel tank and fuel pump. http://www.asedeals.com/Motorvac-carbon-clean.html I have also used a pressurized canister system, that you T'ed in then blocked off the lines to the tank. The canister system is what we had at the GM dealer I worked at I think it was a Kent-Moore J-35800-A. http://www.handsontools.com/Kent-Moore-J-35800-A-Cleaner-Fuel-Injection-_p_26258.html

You could buid your own tank and pump system like the MotorVac, but I think it would be cheaper just to buy a canister system like this http://www.amazon.com/OTC-7448-Fuel-Inje...Cleaner+Machine

I do it even simpler..I have a fuel pressure gauge where the hose goes on the fuel rail. They are cheap to buy. I use the same hose and connect to a can of either 3M or BWD fuel inj/top engine cleaner. I also have valve on the hose. These cleaners are pressurized in the can so it runs the engine off the can. Just be sure to pull the fuel pump fuse so you are not pumping gas and diluting your cleaner. The car will run about 15mins on the can and it will clean VERY well.

I saw those cans, but the hoses and regulators for them were more than the canister system. I have never seen one in person and didn't know what it would take to adapt the can to the fuel rail with a diy set up. Are the cans of cleaner sealed like a can of refrigerant or do they have a buit in valve?

The cleaner cans are exactly like freon cans - sealed and the valve you turn punctures the seal...just like the freon kits. The valve is not built in, you put it on your hose. I actually bought mine in kit form 10+ years ago from Mid America Corvette. It came with the fuel pressure gauge, hose, valve and a can of the 3M cleaner. They don't appear to offer it anymore so I made another one myself. It cost me about $20 to make.

I do also have a cannister system and it is more expensive HOWEVER you can make up for the cost by using your choice of cleaners vs buying the cans which can be expensive. I think the last 3M can I bought years ago was $25. That's when I started using the BWD cans for $10 and worked just as good. With my cannister I can run anymix and concentration I want.

There are pros and cons to both the cannister and make your own. If you do alot of cleaning - go cannister. Do it yourselfer can use the hose and can way.

Here is some pics of the more deluxe kit...mine is only for the GM TPI style valves. This one fits most all makes and models:

By all means, give a strong dose to a tank of fuel, and maybe repeat it again. A good Techron type.

Go for individual cleaning only if you still need it. This would be very rare.
