While Shell is one of the largest marketers of gasoline in the US, the Shell/Motiva refineries are not supplying gasoline to all the geographic regions of the country.
In some areas, the stations are purchasing & selling the same gas as the independent down the street. Of course the difference is the Shell detergent additive package which is added (hopefully) at the terminal rack.
