Hi all,
Haven't posted on here in a while.
My 1995 Integra LS (Automatic, 196k miles) has been having some odd issues lately. It started when I turned on my car after returning home from work, to go to get some dinner. I put it into drive, and it stuttered and chugged until it finally smoothed out and started running fine. I thought it was really strange, but thought it was just some sorta fluke. After I parked my car again for about 15-20 minutes, we got into the car and started it up. I put it into reverse, and it stalled out. I started it again, put it in reverse and it was running very rough. I was able to get it backed out of the parking spot and put it into drive, and it stalled again. Started the car again, and it seemed fine since.
A few days later (today), I noticed it was running rough in reverse again, but it eventually smoothed itself out. I went to accelerate from 35-45 by downshifting, but after it downshifted, pushing the pedal harder would actually make the car go slower. I let off on the gas and it eventually started driving properly again.
I'm not sure if it's a transmission issue, or perhaps a fuel/vacuum problem. I checked the AT fluid level and it's fine. Doesn't look brown/burnt/etc. The level is right up to the full mark as it always has been. I've changed the fluid every 15-20k since owning it. Air filter looks fine, engine oil level is fine. I didn't notice any glaring issues under the hood. The fuel pump is priming and the main fuel relay appears to be working as I can hear the audible clicks. It was replaced a few years ago.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it might be acting like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated before I start throwing money at it.
Some notes on other things I've already done: Took apart the distributor cap and inspected the rotor. Both looked fine. I also looked at the spark plug wires and they seem fine. I cleaned the corrosion I had around the battery cable (was really quite bad around the positive terminal). I just did this earlier tonight and haven't had much of a chance to drive it. However, it did seem to start up fine and I ran it hard around the neighborhood and didn't have any issues -- but the problem is intermittent, so I don't know for sure if it's fixed.
Thanks,
Derek
