Castrol magnatec c3 5w-40 vs Motul xcess 5w-40

Hello
a friend of mine has a Honda civic 1.6vtec and needs an oil change..He is between these 2 oils..

he uses the car mostly city and some highway..
he drives it hard oftenly..
he changes every 4000miles..

Those are probably too thick. Which motor is it? B16A?

I am currently using Castrol Edge 5w40 C3 in my Pathfinder. From what I have read on the Castrol website the Magnatec seems very similar spec wise to Edge, actually the specs I read showed them to be identical!

So unless this was an error I reckon if it meets your engines specs the. It is to be recommended , I have been using Magnatec 5w30 A5/B5 for many years intermittently in my previous Mondeo tdci and solely in my Volvo 2.0D.

I think that would be a more suitable oil choice for the Honda B16A engine.

I would chooze Motul X-cess 8100 5W-40, it's a real synthetic. Magnatec is group 3.
