So my recent purchase the 93 f150 302 5sp with a 302 2wd is avg about 18.5 mpg its has 31 10.50 15 on it. I was expecting 10-12. What is real world fuel economy for you on similar trucks?

Like I said when you were thinking of buying yours my 95 F150 4x4 3.2 gears 5 speed stick 235/75/15 300-6 got 18.

How many fill ups is that average from? Possible the odometer is off from the way over factory size tires? 31s are a big step up from 235/75/15s.

If he has the electronic odometer there's a way to reflash it for a new tire size. Besides the big tires would make his mileage appear worse.

I have the 300 six and 31's with a 5 speed 4x4 and i can get 20 all day at 45mph but town and high speed are around 13-15. I can imagine you wont get as good but fairly close. I have to drive leisurely to get high numbers.

The good thing about the six is its mileage stays pretty close loaded or unloaded. You should try to find one with a 351. Then you would have more power and still questionable fuel mileage. Oh and i have 3.55 gears

Could be with unusually high MPG like that. Check the door sticker for the axle code and Google it. Ford also puts a tag on one of the diff cover bolts that has the gear ratio stamped in it, but those often get discarded.

My 1997 1500 Sierra Vortec 350 averages about 15 mpg and on a good tank 17.5 mpg. Is has 80,000 total miles on it.

well, not "real world" in any sense, but epa ratings were/are:

"Old Ratings"
City - 15 / Highway - 19 / Overall - 17

"New Ratings"
City - 14 / Highway - 18 / Overall - 15

"new ratings" are the adjustments made after they changed their test criteria to be more realistic.

3.08 is a pretty high gear ratio, and the larger tires are effectively making it higher, that's why you are getting good fuel economy.

How many fill ups have you calculated? I would calculate at least 3 full consecutive tanks to get a true average.

ive done 2 so far they were consistent though. for 3.08 it sure does have decent grunt. kinda wish it had 3.55 though.

Yeah, I have 3.55's in the Expie.

Sounds like it has worked out well for you though

My '92 F350 with 351w is getting 13mpg down hill with a tail wind, although that is with 3.55 ratio and only 3 gears with a C6, thus is sits, unless called upon for duty.

My '93 Lightning with 351 & 4:10 gears will knock out 17/18mpg on the highway, around town it may get 10 but is a lot of fun...
