Still debating whether to start using a fuel additive on the used bmw just purchased. I've noticed the my mpg has been very good. In fact mpg on highway trip yesterday was 28.6 (using 93 octane). BMW says I should be getting 26 on highway.

My question: If I am consistently meeting or exceeding the expected mpg, doesn't that tell me that my engine is probably pretty clean?

It's a good question....however I still don't think that not using any addatives will serve to keep the injectors clean in the long run.

FP is a good cleaner, but we recommend using a maintenance does to 'keep' your engine clean.

Don't wait for problems to occur before you take action. Preventative maintenance is the best way to go.
