Fourth UOA on G-Oil from my 2002 Passat 1.8T. Driving is mostly short trips with occasional 15-50 mile weekly jaunts. All four samples were taken from drain plug on the sump and less than 1qt was drained in total each time, sump capacity is 4qts so that amounts to 25% replacement each sample. See the end for adjusted quantities of wear metals that take this into account. Topup oil was 3qt RotellaT 15-40 after the third one - no doubt many of you will note the effect on additives, TBN, and visc!

If you adjust the wear metals to account for 25% reduction every sample you get Aluminum/Iron/Copper of 5/9/8.

First two samples analyzed by Blackstone, the second two by whoever does the Wix analyses (in Portland).

Not entirely sure what's up with the silicon, but I think it's most likely from new valve cover gasket and replacing a large portion of the PCV hoses with silicone.

Looks like it did pretty well in a car that is known to be pretty hard on oil. I am doing an 8k run on G-oil in my Saturn Ion and may do a UOA for those of us here that are keeping an eye on the G-oil results. Looks like a decent oil, and FAR it can't be beat for short intervals if you do not believe it can handle more of a run. Looks like it did well in the Passat though.

It doesn't seem as though the high silicon has had an adverse affect on the wear numbers. Are you running an oversized filter? I insalled a Purolator L40316 (it is a rebadged Mann 950/4) and that added about 5/8-3/4 quart of capacity. Appreciate the G-Oil UOA.

Nope, just a normal sized Mann W719/25.
