sent a sample out of a new quart bottle to blackstone,
this is a VOA.

Calcium 65 ppm
Magnesium 2 ppm
Phosphorus 412 ppm
Zinc 536 ppm

cSt @ 100C = 15.17
flashpoint 295F

viscosity @ 40C was not reported.
This is a hydraulic oil with a basic additive package and falls in the ISO-150 category, so viscosity @ 40C should be between 135-165 cSt. and viscosity index around 100.

honda hydrostatic fluid is clear by the way, like mineral oil from the pharmacy.

what do you mean by and? good great or?

i posted this for reference since it seems no one has ever done it.
Honda claims to use only their honda hydrostatic transmission fluid in their hydrostatic drives otherwise damage and death will result... and no one really seems to know who makes those drives.

the honda hydro oil seems to be a no-frills ISO-150 hydraulic oil with a basic additive package.

Thanks for posting this. Honda seems to like zinc in a lot of their fluids. Their ATF-Z1 and ATF DW-1 have both had healthy doses of zinc.

i just got the report amended for 40C viscosity.
It came back at 86.211 cSt (399.7 SUS) for 40C.
And the 100C viscosity was 15.17 cSt (78.6 SUS 210F).
so online calculators say VI is 186.
it seems it's comparable to a 10w-40 motor oil.

Honda has hydrostatic transmissions? Or do you mean constant velocity? If it is hydrostatic like a tractor, that's cool and odd at the same time. Probably made by Eaton or some similar company.

They have hydrostatic drives in some of their outdoor power equipment. Many of their walk-behind lawn mowers have hydrostatic drives.
