iam looking at a kel-tec pmr-30. i dont want to kill some one, just blow the side of his face off. i think i wont carry it just keep it at the apartment. i like the 30 round clip. for what i need it doesnt need to be a great gun, just good enough. i have been looking at hand guns for 6 mo. i have used M-16 that uncle sam made me use. a long time ago. what think?

I've never been to Wichita so I'm not very familiar with the crime rate. Still a 30 round clip seems like a bit much. I mean, how many people are going to break into your apartment at one time?

I'd rather buy something you can use for something fun, like a shotgun and go skeet shooting or a handgun and go to the range. But to each their own.

You do realize that a suspect that is left alive can testify against you right? You will be responsible for their medical bills and court costs if they survive. Worse if it is found not to be justifiable.
And that in all probability if there is a shooting your Internet Service Provider will be asked to turn over records and your computer will probably go too.

If all you are going to do is carry it around your apt, don't fight with a .22. All a .22 mag does from a pistol is make a bunch of noise.
If you expect close in things then get a shotgun.
Also, I'd suggest you read up on "The Box O' Truth .com"

If it has a 30 round "clip" (its called a magazine) has nothing to do with its ability to fire and I'd rather have the choice if I want one or not.

Whatever I use to protect myself I would want to make sure that if I have to shoot that I shoot to stop them. Shooting with the mindset of just injuring them may get you hurt.

Thankfully as its been proven just the presence of a firearm stops many a crime each and every day.

I also hope that this thread is not someone

as that would be against the rules and could get some time off.

I know someone who has been here for 4 years would never do that so lets treat this seriously and educate the OP on what to do in a self defense situation and opinions on this weapon.

The Kel-Tec in the OPs post seems to have key-holing issues to the point that it was/has been delayed and some samples have been not key-holing but seem to jam. It could be simple as feed ramp issues to many more problems.

Personally I'd say away from one just for cost alone. .22mag is really not a effective round vs cost and you do have the rimfire concern for being reliable in a SD situation.

im not going to lie, parts of your post are creepy..
just my opinion..

as to you question, if a 30 round mag is for sale and you feel you need it, thats your call. the brand you mentioned has held its own in my experience.

I own a Kel-Tec P3AT, and it is the most comfortable gun I own to carry. This is due to it's very small size, and weight. However it does fail to feed sometimes. It is difficult to find ammo that feeds well in it. It currently has Remington Golden Saber's in it, But I'm thinking about Corbon Powerball, so it will feed better. Due to the questionable reliability I typically carry my Glock 26 when it's not too hot out. But I carry my Kel-Tec, in the summer time, or when I don't want to feel like I'm carrying a gun. It's really nice to have the Kel-Tec disappear into a pocket holster when your not feeling well vs having the Glock IWB. As for home defense, I have a Glock 19
with Trijicon night sights, loaded with Speer Gold Dot
124gr +P's. I think I will be looking for a Remington 870 Pump this year though.
I have no experience with the other model Kel-Tec that the op is asking about. But I wanted to share my experience with a Kel-Tec product.

the crime rate where i am is not bad, so much that iam not realy sure that i can justify a gun. the last time i fired a gun , was in anger for uncle sam, in the early 70s. so iam sure i couldnt hit a barn. and bill was talking about fishing, iam not sure what you mean. i try to stay informed about the gun laws in my state. and if i get a gun i will double check all the laws where i live, iam a big be leaver in fallowing ALL the laws in way state. iam realy thankful fore the help you guys gave me. iam starting to think i dont need a gun, right now. thanks tons.

Well, if you don't feel like a firearm you could always pickup a machete.

Machete Specialists is one of the sites I've ordered from. You can pick up something cheap and finish the handle and put an edge on it if you are good with a file and a lansky puck.

Bill, why would you think he wants to use that gun for fishing? Don't fishing guns usually fire a round that's a little bigger?

Notice that this is not the humor section.

Hint; hold your mouse on the icon and see what it says.

about the only thing better than a 870 for home defence is a BIG dog..

The 22 mag is a rimmed round which is not really reliable in a semi auto as a rimless design. And sure the capacity is high, but you can get 30 round 9mm mags for many guns like a Beretta 92 or a Glock 17. More effective and reliable guns with ammo that is as cheap or cheaper.

The PMR would be a plinker at best IMHO.

sorry i dont have a fishing licence. but i think ill ask my local gun shop. i realy thank you cats for taking time to help me, it relay is a big help. iam having a lot of family trouble, so the gun think might get put on hold for a while. thanks for your help.

I kind of find parts of this post creepy also. In any case, a head shot, especially if you are just trying to hit part of a person's face, would be very difficult in a situation where the intruder is trying to not get shot and is probably moving around. In a tense stressful situation you would probably want to aim at the center of body mass in the upper chest area.

Hopefully the mere sight of the gun would scare the intruder off. That would be the best deal. Than you would not have to shoot somebody.

Tell that to Bobby Kennedy.

The shot that was within an inch of killing President Reagan was a ricochet off the limousine armor. From a cheesy pot-metal RG .22 rimfire.

A friend's little brother was killed by a shot to the chest from a cheap .177 air rifle.

Regardless of caliber or propulsion type, all guns should be properly handled and treated with equal respect

Insinuating that a small caliber weapon is not dangerous is foolish.

I think I know what you are trying to say in your post. But, it sounds like you intend to hurt someone. I certainly hope you don't have any intention of hurting anybody.

In any case, It would be best to modify your post with clarifications. If, for some reason, you actually were involved in a shooting, a post like the above could "prove" intent.

My suggestion would be to ask a moderator here to allow you to edit your post. Or to delete the thread. At the very least, please make an additional post with clarification.
