Shell Rotella 15W40 - N/A miles, 73 MC8

I bought this bus with an 8V71 in good shape. Doesn't smoke on start up, acceleration or after idling. Not sure the past history on the oil or when it was changed. I just know the oil that was in there. Fuel dilution is apparently normal, but I don't know how much is considered normal. Discuss.

That's a ton of fuel dilution you've got going there... Brought it way down into 30-weight range.

Yes, but this is an old 2 stroke Detroit. They are known for this, but I don't know what normal is.

15w40 is the wrong oil for that one. It requires SAE40. Delo 100 is what most people use.

Correct, I forgot to add I changed in to Rubia S SAE 40. Thanks.
