The Mercon V fluid in my girlfriend's '01 Explorer Sport had about 83k miles on it and looked pretty good but, I wanted to flush it anyway. I added 1/2 bottle of Auto-Rx and she put another 1,000 miles on it. When I did the flush, the fluid looked a lot dirtier than I remembered it when I checked it 1,000 miles before. There was definitely some cleaning that happened with the Auto-Rx in there. I did a complete flush and refill with Motorcraft Mercon V. There is a marked improvement in shifting after the Auto-Rx cleaning and refill with new fluid.
