Cat 3512 with over 4000 hours on the oil. The sump is 85 gallons. Bypass filtration installed. Oil is Delo 400 LE 15w40. The 3/29 hr reading is obviously wrong 23874 is the correct reading via my database.

For less than 300 hours that seems like a precipitous drop. However putting it together with the trend (minor as it may be) in Chromium, Copper and Lead all make me believe it might be accurate.

I'd agree that the oil is starting its shift of trend.

But I don't think it's anywhere near condemnation levels yet. What are you using for your limits?

The oil is degrading; yet. But it's in no way unserviceable, either. Leave it in for a while longer and just sample perhaps a bit more frequently. The cost of a few UOAs is MUCH cheaper than 85 gallons of lube.

I can buy 55 bottles with just the price of oil. Not including parts, labor or transport cost.
