Thanks, I never though of those potential issues that might be the problem. I'll be giving it a good once over here when I get some more time.
Just to add another 2-cents to the issue, I have a TH400 in my '68 Buick Skylark convertible that has been running Type F since it was installed in 1978. I've only put about 30,000 miles on it in all that time, but the transmission still works perfectly. Barks second at will...
