After just about giving up and going to the bike shop and having to pay nearly retail for a new road bike
, Craigslist finally came to the rescue today.
Here's my latest CL find. It is a Specialized Allez Elite. 62cm frame. 105 components (18 speed double). Carbon fork and seat post. Right around 18 pounds. The pedals will be swapped out in the next few minutes.
Of course, it has a nick here and a scratch there, but it is a definite improvement over what I've been riding... which is an early 90's Raleigh which was *given* to me.... which I haven't put a dime into for the two years that I've been riding it.
It was a bit big for the previous owner, and he wasn't comfortable on it. I'm 6-3, and it fits me fine.
To go from a 1990's steel frame and fork, with stem shifters... to an aluminum frame and carbon fork... with 105 components. Unbelievable.
