Acronyms used at BITOG.

Maybe remove the Lucas reference from UCL? I think of that as more a class of additives (granted Lucas is probably the most common UCL, but there's also Restore and DuraLube etc). My 2c.

Great list! I had to read BITOG for a while before I figured out some of these.

A few more ...

SLOB=Street Legal Octane Booster
should be ... SLOB = Street Legal Oil Boost

PEA = polyether amine, the goods in terms of FSC (fuel system cleaners) such as Redline si1 and Regane HM (High Mileage).

And also the bolded word for errors :p

The following will be added to the acronym list. Should i remove the
"SLOB = Street Legal Octane Booster" I do find it talked about on the internet.

SLOB = Street Legal Oil Boost by CD-2 and others, high levels of Calcium, Phosporus, and zink

UCL = Upper Cylinder Lubricant from Lucas, Restore, DuraLube, and others, a gasoline additive
PAO = PolyAlphaOlefins
VII = Viscosity Index Improver
ZDDP = Zinc Dialkyl Dithio Phosphate - main use as an anti-wear additive

pp = pour point
TBN = Total Base Number -- oil analysis
TAN = Total Acid Number -- oil analysis
PPD = pour point Depressant - additive that retards wax crystallization - lowers the pour point
EP = Extreme Pressure additive
TOST - Turbine Oil Stability Test, ASTM D-943
RPVOT = Rotating Pressure Vessel Oxidation Test
MSDS = Material Safety Data Sheet
PDS = Product Data Sheet
cP = centiPoise - a unit of absolute viscosity
cSt = centistoke - a standard unit of kinematic viscosity
KV = Kinematic viscosity
CAFE = Corporate Average Fuel Economy
POE = Polyolester
IOLM = Intelligent Oil Life Monitor. As opposed to Ford's original, simple mileage counter.

GM = General Motors

COP = ConocoPhillips (makers of MotorCraft/Kendall/Philips66 and others)
PEA = PolyEther Amine, the active ingeadiant in fuel system cleaners such as Techron, Redline, Sil and Regane HM

I did not add
"GC = ... sometimes referred to GREEN Castrol because it was originally was green."
Because the GC line was already the longest and this would take it to 2 lines. Formating would become a problem
