That got your attention didn't it ! You BITOGer's going 10K miles on drains are wimps....according to Lube Report's 9.21.05 article

"GM: 30,000-mile Drain Intervals Are Achievable
Typical drain intervals with General Motors' Oil Life System, the onboard computer algorithm that tells drivers when it's time to change their motor oil, are 8,500 miles, versus 5,000 for GM's competitors, a GM executive told last week's World Tribology Congress. Drain intervals over 30,000 miles are achievable with minor engine modifications and appropriate oil quality."

Sure thing GM. That's about 15K worth of coolant leaking into the 3.4L/3.5L OHV. Those engines won't last beyond the *first* 30K.

Do these 30K drain intervals include factory-installed dual bypass systems?

Well, XOM has already achieved 15,000 mile drains. Only took them a few years.
GM has been claiming lifetime ATF fills for many years now, and keeps upgrading their specs in an attempt to meet the claims.

Careful reading of the full article shows that there is no deadline set at this time.

Amsoil deserves a lot of credit for pushing extended drais over the years. Would save us a lot of oil if more followed.

Not enough motor oil is used as compared to the gasoline consumed to make any difference in the barrels of crude oil used. Then when the used oil is recycled "reused " what else can be said.
