E-6 engine makes history
Stays on wing for 15,000 hours

The Energizer bunny may have met its match. Like the battery-operated creature that "keeps going and going," so does a particular Mercury E-6B engine. In May the aircraft's CFM-56-2A-2 engine surpassed 15,000 hours of flight without needing major repair or removal from the wing.

That is a long time for a flight engine! Probably finally cycled out.

Indutrial Aero-derivatives though can run for +50,000 hours on the same bearings (roller element) and oil (MIL-L-23699, BP Turbo Oil 2380), if you keep the oil dry. Of course some of the hot section components would have to be repaired but the mechanical will last well into 50 or 60,000 hours.

In fact I've seen a Rolls-Royce Industrial RB211 at over 120,000 hours before it's first overhaul, but it wasn't fired at full power.
