I have seen Shell Rotella T 10W-30 recommended many times, but no one had a good source for it. A few days ago i saw it at Menards for $13.xx a gallon.

I was only able to find one UOA for it here.

It probably starts with 1000PPM Phosphorus, and 1200PPM Zink and over 2000PPM Calcium.

I think this would be a good oil for mild spring rate, flat tappet, pushrod engines. Or anyone that just wants an oil that lubricates well and has extra cleaning power. A fairly inexpensive and safe way to clean out a sludge motor.

I've seen in at select Pep Boys stores, too. They typically have the jugs and buckets. I think NAPA can get it from warehouses too.

The regular dino Rotella is good stuff, and other than the base stock it doesn't seem to differ a bit in formulation from the T5. I've used it quite a bit and have been very happy with it.

The 10w30 dino is something you have to look for around here, I usually get mine at Advance.

Advance is the only local retailer for Rotella T 10w-30 around here. Ironically, the T5 10w-30 at Wallmart is actually cheaper by $2, unless Advance runs a sale.

Welcome to BITOG!

It's unfortunate that Shell doesn't sell their excellent T5 0W-30 in the States, it's such a superior lube to their T 10W-30.

The two negatives with the T & T5 10W-30 is that it's heavier than necessary for most gasoline applications due to it's low VI and 3.5cP HTHSV.

A better option is to buy any PCMO 5W-30 synthetic on sale and raise the ZDDP level will a suppliment like Red Line Break-In Additive. It's good for 4-5 oil changes so quite a reasonable value. This way you don't have to settle for the antiquated 10W-30 grade.
