Yep, under conditions that most Jeeps here would never see.

I like the QS syns. Picked em up for $5/jug on clearance, when they changed the name again.

I think my daughter's '89 Cherokee 4.0L has Formula Shell 5W30 right now.

I have Pennzoil 5w30 in mine right now, and it seems to have done great on it. That said the next OCI coming up will be 10w30 as winter here will be history by then.

I have done a lot of digging, and the best (lowest) wear UOA's I've seen for the Jeep engines have almost all been on 10w30's. I wouldn't hesitate at all to use the 5w30 for the cold starts in winter, but beyond that 10w30 is the way to go for the Jeep.

Yes, every winter. AMC recommended for my '88 Cherokee...

in my 1999 xj manual 5w-30 is on the sliding scale for very cold weather. but 10w-30 was the oil that covered most of the scale. it probably does not matter since we are on the sn version of oil now?

My 95 GGC 4.0 was run with M1 5w30 for all it's life in Northern ILL. Sold when I moved to FL and it is still running strong with my grandson with ~ 195,000 miles.
