rhino ramps still safe?

Yes they are expensive, but for my use, which is smooth surfaces amd not too rough conditions they should hold up fine.

Do you think they cost more because of the materials?

That's a lot more lumber than I want to store. Need to figure a better way...

Problem is, jackstands damage the underside of unibody cars, without fail.

I didn't quite know what I was buying when I got them I started laughing they were so light! The materials shouldn't be all that much, I think they just have a monopoly on that particular niche of the market.
