Chevron hasn't been in NY or New England in 40 years. There used to be a Chevron station from the late 60s here that closed. Prior to the mid 60s, they were known as Calso (California Standard Oil) and plentiful.
We lost Texacos around here about 10 years ago. They were rare then, but Gulf is returning.
