Having sold my 2005 MINI S a couple of years ago I still regret it. Sometime in the next couple of years I'll probably get another. What's the verdict on the prince engines (2007 on) versus the older Tritec?

Having one injector in a dry manifold means some cylinders get a lot and some nearly none. Modern cars have the manifold optimized for air only. If you add fuel to the mix you must inject it directly into the port, otherwise puddling, etc. ensues.

I did notice that when I had my '05 that it was really sensitive to fuel. Most of the time I had it I did use top tier and I ran Techron through it on a regular basis.

The 3.5L in the Lexus I replaced it with had a direct/port injection setup as described above and it had a lot less problems reported than the 2.5 engine that was purely DI.
