On Yokohama's website, you can compare various tires on traction, winter performance, NVH and longevity, based on Yokohama's internal testing.

Here is how the YK580 ranks against the Avid ENVigor and TRZ:

YK580/Avid ENVigor/TRZ

Dry Traction: 9/8/7
Wet Traction: 9/8/7
Winter Performance: 6/5/10
NVH: 8/8/9
Longevity: 8/7/10

Had two of these put on my car. They're made in the US, which wasn't really clear on Yoko's or Discount's website.

looks somewhat similar to the conti dws type tread.. with different areas for different types of traction.

What are your initial impressions? I was about to buy these last month for my car, but could not pass up a great deal on a set of Michelin's. For some weird reason, their price was less than these Yokes. Since my purchase, the Michelin prices are back up...I suspect a typo.
