One thing to watch out for apparently, is if you become a preferred customer there is no going back. If you ever decide you don't want to be a preferred customer any longer, then you don't get to order Amsoil online ever again--Even if you do follow a link with 515729 at the end of it.
Well, I say "you" but what I really mean is "me". I ordered some oil via Pablo's link a while ago (2 years maybe? not sure). I went for the preferred customer option at that time. It made sense since the cost savings of the preferred membership discount exceeded the cost of the membership. Now, however, I can't order from the website. Any time I try, I can get to the checkout and then it throws me to the login screen and says:
Quote:
Your AMSOIL account is past due for renewal.
Please click here to renew.
After completing the renewal process, your Preferred Customer Zone access will be immediately reactivated.
That also affects my login to the MyAMSOILGarage portal too. As soon as I try to log into the MyAMSOILGarage portal, it throws me back to the login screen with the above "You gotta pay" message, even though it still advertises "Free for Everyone". They should probably add "...Unless you've been a preferred member in the past."
Kind of a **** move on Amsoil's part--they're basically holding the maintenance information I entered into their garage portal hostage for the $10 membership fee. Sure it's only ten bucks, but it is the principal of the thing that ticks me off. I'm not gonna negotiate with hostage takers, and PP is cheaper anyway.
