To visit some land our family owns, I to have to drive my car over ground with cacti that have sharp needles. So far, I have not gotten a flat, but it would be difficult if I had several flats at once out in the middle of nowhere. Am I pushing my luck, or is relatively unlikely to happen?

I have yet to hear of anyone popping a tire from cacti...

I would vote that this is relatively unlikely to happen...

+1 on the BFGs...I actually had a stick (I am not making this up) puncture the sidewall on a Bridgestone Dueler years ago...know how common sticks are on the trail? Sheesh...

I've seen sand burrs and thorns puncture tires. I would vote that it's entirely possible for a cactus needle to puncture a tire.

I've ruined 4ply tractor tires on black locust thorns.. I'd imagine a lucky strike with anything sharp could be bad news.
