How to transport an upright piano?

You might want to consider a set of metal or solid wood saucers to protect your floor by distributing the load. The metal ones can be as cheap as $4 from Home Depot and without it there will likely be indents on the floor later. Pianos are heavy enough that it can dent the saucers over time.

Yeah, might have been a good idea. There are a few bad scars on the floor likely from dragging it around.

Case closed, for us anyway. My mother-in-law knows someone up in Virginia who is having her piano moved to South Carolina, so they're going to do two jobs in one and we'll split the cost with them on it. So it looks to be about $400.
