Pro-tec 170 Cut Open (Warning lot of PICS)

Cut open with a grinder. I was hesitant to use this filter on my truck after i cut open the Pro-tec 130, but it turned out to be a good filter.

Nice work, good job. Looks like a solid 3-5k mile filter, for a group 7 like filter.

I don't necessarily like the way the ADBV is made, though.

+1 for post!

EDIT: Looks like a Napa Pro-Select/Silver lineup.
 
Don't like the combo ADBV/Bypass valve ... give me a good old fashioned, spring loaded bypass valve instead.

I got the 170 from my workplace. The used 130, off of a vehicle that came in for an oil change.

We where getting the protec's from orielly's, it's a behind the counter item that you would have to ask for.

We've changed over to napa proselects for 10cents more a piece, because of better service.
 
I've still got a case or 2 of the older Pro-tec's from when they were still made in the US. They don't use a combo valve so that must be the new design then.
