I don't remember the pour symbol on the smooth CP bottles. There was a run of Mercon V (black bottle) that used this same bottle, just before the newer CP red bottles showed up. I kind of thought it was a Chevron bottle.

I agree with you (previous Motorcraft botle has no pour sybbol).
Chevron? But Chevron has no power steering fluid, only MD3 and Multy-Vehicle fluids: http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/transmission/

Chevron doesn't really market to private use as much as they do to commercial use.

It looks like this bottle to me:

I do not know anything for sure, but I remember comparing the black bottle Motorcraft Mercon V to the previous Chevron/Havoline bottles and finding no differences whatsoever. I'm not sure why there would be a run a Chevron Mercon V and PSF in a sea of ConocoPhillips products though.

The big rumor is that Castrol makes the Full Synthetic Manual Trans Fluid. The other stuff I am not sure. The mysterious white bottle is the VC-9 additive you run through a 6.0 or 6.4L diesel when the EGR and oil coolers don't mix water and oil.

WSA-M2C195-A was Mercon transmission fluid. Any power steering unit that calls for WSA-M2C195-A was serviced with Mercon transmission fluid. Ford no longer makes or licenses Mercon fluid--they started making "power steering fluid" which meets the specifications required for power steering systems that were serviced with Mercon.

However, Mercon compatible fluids continue to be available in the aftermarket, and these can be used to service those power steering systems.

Chevron MD3 is recommended for Mercon applications. As power steering units tend to be less fussy about their fluid than do transmissions, I would not hesitate to use Chevron MD3 in a Ford power steering unit that calls for WSA-M2C195-A.

Mercon (pour point -40 C) ATF instead of XL-14 ATF (Mercon V with pour point -48 C)?
