I think Carquest synthetic is made by Ashland (Valvoline) so are you sure it's 'approved'? From what I've read Ashaland has refused to pay the royalty fee that is required for 'approval'.

It is made by Ashland. Meets or exceeds I will have to double check tomorrow. Will let you know.
Dexos 1 doesn't even require synthetic. Pennzoil syn blend is now approved for Dexos.

On the front it says exceeds dexos1 specifications. Now on the back underneath the api license it just says GMDEXOS1.
