Comments: Silicon came down to an average level in this sample after reading high in the first two,

however sodium reads slightly above average in this sample. We normally associate sodium with

antifreeze contamination, although it can show up in some oil additives. If it is antifreeze, it's not

enough to hurt anything at this level, but it should be monitored. Your wear is still mostly below

average, and a little lower than the last sample. No fuel or water was found, and oil filtration looks

okay. We'll watch closely for sodium in the next sample.

My comments: I installed a reprogrammed PCM in January, 2004. Advanced timing for 93 octane gas,

firmer and later shifts, among other things. I've been driving it like a raped ape ever since.

Stick with this oil, its doing great in this engine for your drain interval. Imo, mobil 1 is tops for over the counter in my book.

Yea, you want to keep your eye on the sodium. Like they said its too low to cause any problems at this point.

Nice to see another 4.6 doing longer than factory recommended intervals (about where my '99 F150 with the 4.6 is getting changed these days).

All in all, looks AOK.

Those modulars continue to show great wear numbers. Wouldn't be surprized to see these engines with regular OCI run up to 200K, easily.

At 200K, the oil is just getting warm.

I am, however, waiting for the dreaded intake manifold coolant crossover pipe to crack. Should happen between 70K & 90K.

Does that the coolant pipe run under the intake manifold/valley cover?

No. Thank God that one usually doesn't break until well past 200K and even then some people may never have to replace it. The coolant crossover is the pipe that goes between either side of the intake manifold. It's located just behind the alternator, I think.
