this was $12.49 from my local Napa. They had to order it, but had it the next day.

Nice solid construction. unless the price comes down or the efficiency beats fram XG, I will probably stick to XG for around $8 at WM.

The media is nice, feels like a thick cotton or felt.

I noticed a 61515 on the base. maybe this will be the number under the Wix brand name?

ENJOY!

Thanks for your hard work, out of pocket expense and great post. Looks like a very good filter. Who knows, they may have a special on these in the near future to get people to try them out.

Looks awesome but unless I'm doing super extended intervals I'll pass for $12.49.

Oh, I thought someone said it was, my bad

Texan,

Looks like a very solid filter--nice internals and filter media. From a price and quality standpoint how do they compare with PureOnes? Any thoughts there?

I only don't care for the bypass valve location:

Why run the bypassing oil over the dirty filter surface, when the Motorcraft bypass valve is located at the input (base) end of the can? Yet most high end filters seem to have the dome end bypass. Maybe it's not an issue?

if we could give "rep" points on this forum, you'd definitely earn a few here. thank you for your contribution!

looks like a great filter. the only thing i dont like about it is the gap in media on both sides of that metal piece. every fram extedned guard ive cut open hasnt had that, or at least not as bad as this one

Quality is top notch in both this filter and the P1. I think where the P1 really shines is the price. But if your looking for a long OCI (like 10k +) filter this is definitely a big contender to others like the Fram XG, RP, Amsoil.

Being sold under the NAPA line will put them on par with Fram XG as far as availability goes.

I still would like to know what the advertised efficiency rating of the Platinum is. Nothing on the box indicated efficiency like on the P1 box.

just my .02
------

was looking though the pics and noticed I messed up the bbcode on the pic of the filter base
