2011 Nissan Versa Coolant Alternative

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there any alternative to using Genuine Nissan Long Life Coolant (Blue) or Genuine Nissan Coolant (Green) for a 2011 Nissan Versa? I've heard that Zerex Asian formula is a great alternative for Nissan (Green) coolant but it also a good alternative to the Nissan (Blue) coolant? I just don't understand the needs and benefits of Nissan blue coolant versus the long life coolant brands found elsewhere. Thanks !

Easiest answer is that the Nissan Blue was tested specifically in this vehicle. You can't say that about Zerex Asian formula. It may have been tested in some Nissan products but not others.

For the price of the coolant and considering that even OCD BITOGers will only be replacing it every 4-5 years, I would use the OE stuff.

Thanks Critic for your replies. I see that the blue coolant last 7 years or 105,000 miles while the green coolant last 5 years or 60,000 miles. Do you know what a gallon of these coolant cost at the dealership? Thanks !

I paid $22.00 a gallon for the green at the local dealer.
