Just bought a new used car w/ 116k miles, and want it to know. What oil grade will be good to used. I am the second owner.
99 Altima 116k Oil Recommendation?

Any 5w-30 or 10w-30 you'd like. Don't know your driving conditions so no recommend on for how long.

We had a 1995 Altima that has the same engine and I used any brand 10w30 all year.
In LA 10-30 would probably be fine year round. I would still run 5-30 year round. I doubt there would really be any difference.

+1 any major 5w30 or 10w30. How much you want to spend is up to you. All Major SN oils are good to go.
Whatever your favorite 5w-30 is, whether it be conventional, high mileage, blend or synthetic.
5w30 a lot of people were telling me to use a thicker oil for old car like 10w40. I am sticking with 10w30 then.

If you want a slightly thicker oil, just run a High Mileage oil like MaxLife, Castrol HM, Mobil 1 HM, etc in 5/10-30

First of all 116k is NOT high mileage. Second of all 10w-40 will NOT "protect" your engine any "better" than 5w-30.

The vehicle in my autosignature with 300K+ miles has been on 5w-30 since day 1 and has nearly triple the mileage of yours. And it still runs like new.
