My truck uses JCase/FMX fuses instead of fusible links. So, I was just trying to learn a bit more about them. Google and Wikipedia did not produce much info.

I learned that PAL stands for Pacific Auto Link. Littelfuse and Cooper-Bussman have some info. Apparently FMX is derived from Female Maxi.

What is the etymology of PAL and JCase?

I also learned that the PAL fuses are not technically superior to the older Maxi fuse. Maxi fuses, in fact, gemerate a bit less heat. The main advantage to PAL is compactness. A secondary advantage to female terminal fuses is that there is no longer the problem of female terminals in the fuse panel losing their tension from repeated insertions and thus preventing a good connection.
