Just used 6 quarts on my 145,000 mile service. Replaced the motor mounts, got me a timing belt job, and replaced the trans filter. My oil pan is in good shape even though I hit a road alligator on the way home from Mt. Palomar the other night. For those who do not know, road alligators are produced by the mating of large truck recap tires and the road. This one was huge.

Most of my remaining stash is now NAPA synthetic.

I used:

Kendall 10W-30 Syn (2)
Mobil 1 Syn 15W-50 (2)
Valvoline Dino 10W-30 (2)


Total Forward 29,903

I thinned mine severely.
What I got:
7 qts SynPower 5W-30, 7 qts " " 5W-20, 7 qts Toyota OEM 0W-20, 5 qts Castrol GTX 10W-40, 5 qts," " 20W-50.

Total forward = 29,941

I have used both Mobil 1 5W-30 and 0W-30 in a few cars, and the 0W-30 started slightly easier and went to full pressure slightly quicker. Engines are now 200+k.

So, I use OW-30. Starts like summer at 10 degrees. No comsumption difference or at all. Actually, both oils worked great. Revved the [censored] out of them too.

I've got 7 M1 HM 10W-30, 1 M1 HM 5W-30, 8 PU 5W-20, 6 Valvoline Synpower 10W-30, 2 VWB 10W-30, 1 Wolf's Head Non-Detergent 30, 1 Shell T6 5W-40, 1 PYB 30, 1 Castrol HD30, 1/2 VWB 30, 1/2 Syntec 5W-20 & 1/2 Maxlife 10W-30 (any little bit helps).
