Decoding newer Ford part numbers

I'm just wondering if anyone happens to have an up-to-date guide on decoding newer Ford part numbers.

I've been searching online, and there seems to be just one that is copied and pasted everywhere else. The basic part numbers seem to be current based on their designations (e.g. basic part numbers in the 4600-4859 range are driveshafts), but doesn't seem to include the new four character prefix designations starting with a number - e.g. 1W1Z-3355-AA instead of E9AZ-3355-A or 9W7Z-4602-A instead of XW7Z-4602-AA). Thanks!

Wow. This brings me back to the early 90's when I worked in Ford dealer parts and service. It is nice to know the whole breakdown to decode a part # but what really matters is that 4 digit part classififcation in the middle. If you don't know that you are screwed( if you have to look them up anyway in a parts book or on microfiche ).

1 series are wheels and hubs
2 series are brakes
3 series are front suspension and front axle
4 series are rear axle and associated
5 series are exhaust and chasses
6 series is engine mechanical
7 series is transmission
8 series is engine cooling
9 series is fuel and emission
10 series is electrical
11 series is starting
12 series is ignition and engine electrical
13 series is lighting
14 series is electrical wiring

just some from memory


list keeps going. also even basics are passenger (right) side, odd are driver side. One letter in a basic can completely change it. an example a 1 piece driveshaft is a 4602, a multi piece is a 4R602. There are basics you will know without thinking, there are some you never learn but you just have to know how to find them.
