AZ has a good deal on royal purple with a k&n filter. Just wondering how long it will last in my f150. I have heard people go 10-20K on it, whats your opinion?

I didn't think AZ sold RP?
In my applications I use it just like I use all synthetics, about 10K.

RP has a nice starting Tbn of 12. It's definitely more of an extended drain oil than people tend to think.

I'd say at least 8k.....but perhaps go 8k get a UOA, then go from there...

Ironically, they don't "recommend" an interval, much like the other oil manufacturers do....

But come on, it's synthetic, it's gotta be at least comprable....hehe.

Obviously, if your towing, off-roading, etc....that could change the interval as well.....

Royal Purple says it will last for 12,000 miles or 1 year whatever comes first but they also have a disclaimer of following what OCI your car manual calls for.

Pepboys has 5 qt RP and a RP filter for $40

AAP has the same deal for $43 i believe. Not too expensive really when you consider buying like a jug of M1 EP and a M1 Filter or something similar.

Stay tuned. I will be sending in a sample of RP 5W20 with 10K miles and 22 months on it. Taken from my '05 F150 5.4L 3V.

Sure, if you plan to run it for an extended period and/or run the car very hard. Otherwise you won't be taking advantage of its benefits over a more benign oil.
