I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7 and ive recently noticed this yellow "goop" under my oil cap and in the filler neck.

Ive been doing my research and it can come with the long filler neck, (that it does have) but it also doesn't get short trips. They are usually between 15-25 minute trips.

First let me show you how bad this is:

She does not lose any coolant or overheat so maybe its not a head gasket?

Though when I pull the engine oil dipstick it is completely clean, so I don't know what to think.

One thing i've had noticed is a burning smell recently whenever it first reaches operating temperature and the heat gets turn on. Then its extremely noticeable when you shut off the vehicle smell around it.

it's condensation......the 3.7, 4.7 and hemi all do it. as far as that goes your fine, it's not causing any damage.....your sell is due to a leak happy hunting

It's called cold sludge or "mayonaise."

It often forms in cooler areas of the engine and is composed of condensed oil vapors and moisture.

Make sure your PCV or ventuillation system is working.

What shape is your oil in?

PCV? I know for a fact that hasn't been changed so I will probably get on that. Being completely honest, Ive have no idea where would it be..Could you give me a general idea where it is?

Ive just changed it recently about 500 miles ago with Synpower.

its probably just condensation, clean that baffle with some carb cleaner and then get us some pics with it out of the oil fill so we can see inside. you might have a sludge situation

the pcv is going to be in a valve cover. it should be just a little plastic piece that plugs in the cover with a vacuum line going to it

That looks like a little more than on my 3.7 in my ram. It's common like was already said and they added that long filler neck/baffle to hide where a lot of it forms. If you pull it out you will probably see more than that. The pcv on my 3.7 comes off the oil fill cap and is attached to a vacuum line. You just have to twist it and pull out to remove it. If it rattles it's probably still good, I've replaced mine and saw no difference in the amount of goop forming.

Word of advice for the future. Try to resize your images prior to posting online. It's really not necessary to post 14 megapixel images, 3 MB in size. They take forever to load and eat up bandwidth.

As for your issue, I agree with others - it's a result of engine not getting up to operating temp long enough to burn off moisture. It's normal and it'll go away if you start driving more and/or the weather warms up.

Viruses? The website is imageshark, a widely used website. If it did have a virus, I had no intention for anyone getting one. I have Norton 360, and I had no alerts come up.

I also do apologize for the huge pictures. I really didn't think much about it, but like you said "just a word a advice."

I can't look at the pictures.
The size is ridiculous.

But the goo is probably condensation mixed with oil.
It MAY be from coolant, but that is not probable. Keep a close eye on your coolant level. Check it at the same place, when cold.

I agree.

I got zapped by the "spyware sales" trojan also when I clicked on the links. MSE stepped in and stopped it. I have had this problem before at Imageshack.

is your coolant low? Is there this goo present on the dipstick when you pull it? Do you have bubbles in the coolant when the engine is running? I recommend you have your engine compression tested.

Take the Jeep for a good long drive - say 100 miles or more and report back.

My guess is that the mayo will be gone.
