Blackstone comments: Sorry for the confusion on your last report. We've updated your file. Copper is still the only metal reading in excess in this new-to-you engine, and it has come down nicely. Although we don't know why it was high in the first sample, the fact that it's improving is a good sign that it's not going to be a long-term issue for this Tacoma. The TBN read 2.3, showing active additive still remained in the oil. No fuel, antifreeze, or water was present. Air and oil filtration are normal. This engine looks good! You could try 12,000 miles next time, if you want.

Blackstone messed up the vehicle in the last report, hence the apology. My concern was the copper and it's coming down. Wondering why it was so high. I think I'm going to run a couple more oil changes and sample again.

Good question. I forgot to mention the previous run was M1 EP 5W-30 for 9,080 miles:

Prior to that I have no history. I bought the truck with 43K on it 1.5 years ago. From the stickers in the truck, it appears the truck had a previous diet of Quaker State Dino from a local Jiffy lube.

Nice to see a longer run on PU - we don't see too many of those.

Looks good for 10k miles - Fe, especially, is less than 1ppm/1K.

Thanks for doing a 10k run with this oil and engine! This information is very helpful.

What filter are you using?

Another good showing for PU.

10,000 miles is anice number to work with. If you ran 5,000 mile intervals your engine would last just as long but the cost would be double.

I get a laugh at the people who run syn oil because they believe all the info they read about it except the only thing that is the biggest advantage is that it lasts way longer.

I'm running the Mobil M1-209, which is the slightly longer version of the stock M1-102 size.
