I have an Eaton Supercharger that calls for Rheotemp 500 grease by Nye for the needle bearing inside the housing.

It takes about a dab. (maybe the size of a pea or 2)

Anything else you guys may know that I can use.

Thanks

Boy I wish I had your problem!!

I found the data sheet for the Nye grease.... Rheolube 500

I'd look for a grease that has these same specs or better. Good luck finding another NLGI 1.5, though. I've never heard of that... I wonder if Nye is just interpolating

What are the recommended lube intervals for the Eaton? Are you having a problem finding it? Why do you want to use something else?

And finally, can we assume that this unit is perched atop a silver hemi??!!!

How about some pics!

I can't find a source. I understand it's very expensive from heresay. It's not a maintenance item. One company if factory authorized for repairs and all that jazz.

I cleaned out my SC at 98000 miles and replaced the front coupler to quiet down the eggbeater sound, and in doing so separated the rotor housing which was full of varnish. I cleaned it as gently as I could and reassembled without any new lube. I'm just a little paranoid that there may be some contamination.

Thanks for the replies

I think I would go with Redline CV-2 since it has a useful temperature range of -100F to 500 F and is ester-based.

The Nye grease used an ester base of ISO 68 oil.
