Lithium Thickener

Got this from the convention from the speaker of the battenfeld grease corp.

"over 70% of industrial applications use a Lithium complex grease"

This is one reason Amsoil doesn' have some of the less popular greases like Aluminum and so forth.
 
Lithium Complex seems to be easily additized to make it perform to fit a specific need,if I didn't have or couldn't get #221 the GLC would be my choice, as it holds up to water fairly well.Another reason they use lithium I believe is marketability,most grease recomendations are for a lithium complex and most consumers would tend to follow this. But what cracks me up

is that it doesn't really tell you anything when they specify based on thickener alone without any other indications of what attributes the grease should have,water sprayoff,baseoil viscosity,etc. Thats sort of the same as just telling a consumer to use a petrolium lubricating oil in their crankcase,without a viscosity recommendation or API clasification.
