Note the aluminum in the virgin oil!

This is a 'long life' oil?

I understand the need to keep SA amounts low, but surely not THIS low?

Glad I found this VOA. I just purchased a Touareg TDI and VW is saying to do 10k OCI's.

With the TBN so low.....makes me nervous.

On the other hand, the sump is nearly 9 quarts....so maybe it is ok.

Thoughts?

I would use the M1 5W-30 ESP if I wanted to do 10k OCIs.

The very low TBN is why I'm switching our BMW X5 35d from Castrol SLX Professional OE to Delvac 1 LE 5W30.
It has a TBN>12 despite SA = 1.0%
On my first UOA I had a TBN of 1.5 and a TAN of 4.83 on the Castrol at 10K miles despite a 9L sump.
Scary.

Good move, I would've done the same. Though, the 10k OCI ensures the oil SUGGESTED will "woooork".

Yes, but that shouldn't affect the oil's ability to neutralize acid.

I would hope so

This oil is the same as the Castrol Edge 5w-30 (504.00/507.00) right? Just SLX Longlife is for services and Edge is for aftermarket?

The link in the original post did some odd redirecting and my virus software blocked a malicious site from loading.

Just a warning.

The high Al may explain why some TDI are showing high Al on factory fill UOA. This is the factory fill for the 2.0 TDI, and also what most dealers should be using with the free oil changes.
