Hi guys, I'm a new forum user, so please let me know if this post is in the wrong place.

I have '91 mazda miata with a custom rebuilt motor from a '99 miata. The engine was bored and stroked from 1.8 to 2.o liters, 9:1 compression ratio, and running about 16 psi boost from a garrett 3171 turbo making 270 rwhp. This vehicle is my daily driver, but I also participate in local track days and autocrosses where it gets driven pretty hard (up to 8k rpm). I've been running redline 10w-40, BUT the motor has a oil consumption problem (about 2.5L every 1k miles). The guys that built the motor have already agreed to take the engine apart and find out why it's using so much oil, so that is a side issue. Since, I can't take care of that until this winter, I'd like to find a more affordable solution than red line.

Does anyone have a suggestion? I've been considering something like M1 or Castrol Edge. Thanks!

This. Search my user-name and get UOA data from my turbo Miata track car.

Rebuild the motor so it doesn't consume oil.

Sorry, but you won't find an oil to fix a bad build.

Go thicker to reduce consumption. Make sure engine is properly broken in.
