Two changes today, my 2003 Jetta and the wife's 2008 Rabbit. Both took six quarts of M1 0W40 each. I put a OEM filter on the Jetta and a Mann on the Rabbit.
The Jetta doubles as a track day car. This oil had about 4200 miles on it and seven track days, or about 14 hours of track time, on it. Sadly, I got a few nice sized chunks of metal out of it, I'm thinking rod bearings. Most of this is dirt and bubbles, but you can see at least one nice chuck in this picture:
We'll see if she holds together next weekend...

06 Acura RSX Base 2.0L with 32k miles - out dealer 5w-20 mineral with acura filter, in M1 EP 5w-30 and acura filter. Planned interval 6k. Next change: Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30 with M1 filter. Planned interval 6k.
02 Grand Am (2.2 ecotec with 106k miles) - out M1 0W-40 with supertech filter, in M1 10W-30 High Mileage with supertech filter. Planned interval 5-6k. Next change: Pennzoil Ultra 10w-30 with supertech filter. Planned interval 6k.
Parent's car:
09 Toyota Matrix 1.8 engine with 6k miles. Out M1 0W-30 with toyota filter (5k miles). In M1 5w-30 with toyota filter. Planned interval 6-7k miles. Next change - unknown. Possibly Pennzoil Ultra if I'm able to find any more in 5w-30 at reasonable price or Castrol Edge in 5w-30.
Sister's car:
09 Mazda 6 2.5L engine 42k miles. Out dealer's filled unknown mineral oil and filter. In M1 5W-30 with M1 filter. Planned interval 6-7k miles. Next change - possibly the same or Pennzoil Ultra or Castrol Edge in 5w-30.

OEM blue Subaru oil filter
In: Castrol GTX 5W30
OEM blue Subaru oil filter
Note: Castrol GTX coloring same as always...clear in the light and greenish in subdued light when new. When used brownish in subdued light with red tint in brighter light.
Why is that?
