Thanks. It shoots good, too. (I put the Altamont stocks on right after I took this picture. These are the original target stocks. It won't fit in the case with the Altamonts.)

They make a Model 27 in the "Classic" line now, but it's not this same gun. Some would argue it's not even a "version" of this gun.

Mine is a 27-2 made around 1979. It's the direct ancestor of the first S&W 357 Magnum, the famous "Registered Magnum" introduced in 1935. The modern "version" doesn't have some of the features that always distinguished the Registered Magnum and later the Model 27 from other N-Frame Smiths. Example, the hand checkered top strap and barrel rib:

To me it is. And to S&W aficionados.

And in my post above, I should have said the 27-2 is a direct descendant of the Registered Magnum, which is the ancestor.
