Planning to buy subject vehicle as mom's daily beater for stop/n/go in Houston. Mileage is 27M.
Has been maintained w/BMW-Castrol Synthetic 5w-30
@7500 mile intervals. Sump capacity 6.9 qts. Am
considering the following:
1.Delvac Synthetic 5w-40/TSUV 5w-40/TDT 5w-40
2.Amsoil European 5w-40
3.BMW-Castrol Synthetic 5w-30
4.Delo 400 Synthetic 5w-40
Doug & Too Slick have addressed this issue on BMW higher mileage cars. Would appreciate everyone's input.

I have the same year/model touring.

I'm finishing an ARX treatment using Shell Rotella T Syn (RTS) 5w-40 for the rinse. The car seems to really like this oil, starts and runs quiet. Good oil for the money and readily available.

Your list looks good. I've previously used Mobil-1 0w-40 with good results. After the AutoRX, I'm going to give GC a try - primarily for cold weather operation.

P.S. - That's a pretty nice car for a "beater"

I like Lubro Moly 5w40 if you can get that. If not than Castrol 0w30, Mobil 1 0w40 or 5w40 would be my other choices. BMW's 5w30 is not a full synthetic btw. That engine will outlast the car under a decent maitnence schedule anyhow.
