Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the initial level of TBN is not the best way to compare oils because some oils start with very high, but it drops quickly whereas there are other oils which start lower but remain steady.

I have no idea, I personally prefer high TBN, it gives me some comfort.

That is the difference between Castrol and the European mobile

Both the same engines and similar mileage!

One word: unbelievable. Really.

Never heard of "Castrol Red"? It seems to be a common theme with their oils.

I've got an old original bottle of the Green GC and a new bottle of the Gold GC. Anyone willing to do a VOA on both? I'll donate the oil for the VOA's.

I just picked up 5 qts. of GC Gold that was on clearance for $3 a quart. I really didn't need it but I couldn't pass up a bargain. I'll probably run it in my Buick 3.1 as it is too thick for my Honda and Corolla.

I've always found it hard to understand how 0w30 GC is thicker at startup in my NY winter than most 5w30's.

Too thick for Corolla?
I have used GC 0W-30 mostly during Wisconsin winter for 10K miles on my 94 Prizm/Corolla. Is yours a newer Corolla?

No. Castrol Red? I will google it.

I about gave up looking for GC at my local AZ. Did a google and found a site that sells it. I now have 12 qts. of GC on my shelf.

With shipping it came out to $8.37 @ quart. So that was easy! Yes it is German Castrol, says made in Germany on the back.

So what's the story with this. Because, this is a little weird.

Can you elaborate. I'm not sure what I'm looking at

Supposedly it's the same type of engine with similar miles. One is run on GC, the other on European M1. Why do they look so different. There's gotta be some incongruity.

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in here and say I have been using GC for the past 2000 clicks and 0 has been burned by my engine, whereas in the other oils I used before, my engine would burn some oil in this time... I am now going to be using this forever!
