Hello, I need to ask for some information regarding these tests for grease properties:

Timken OK Load ASTM D 2509 lb

4 Ball Load Wear Index ASTM D 2596 kgf

I have 2 greases at home; one has a Timken OK load of 80
but the 4 Ball LWI is 50, and the other grease the Timken OK Load is 65 but the 4 Ball LWI is 65, which is higher than the first grease. It seems the relationship between the 2 tests is not directly proportional ? Any advise is appreciated, thanks again.

Timken for bearings, 4 ball for sliding (ball joints on cars)...at least that is the idea. The repeatability of these tests is somewhat limited so the only real way to make sure they work is to use them.

Either of those greases should work fine for automotive use at least by those numbers.
