For all the lads downunder Repco CI-4/SL diesel oil is on sale as of 1st July to the 18th, 39$AU for 10 litres.......perfect for my two Vmax's ! Currently have Valvoline 15w-40 CJ/SG in them and they just love the stuff......vroom vroom.
Cheers from Marty

Who is Repco using as their supplier now? 10 years ago they used BP,and I could get Repco oil cheaper than from BP,and I was a BP account holder.

Given the acronym that we used to use for REPCO back in the 80s, this catalogue looks reasonable decent.

Thanks for looking out for the Aussies. Not many of us here. I've still got about 15 litres of Delo 400 at about $4/litre. Might just grab a bottle to test it to see what it is. AMybe look at the MSDS first.

If it to be believed this Repco oil is actually made by Mobil and is Delvac ? The last Repco oil I bought was made by Penrite, whatever and whoever I am definetly getting some and my bikes will love it.
Keep on rocking in the free World !

Yes Craig indeed it is, just bought 10 litres and states on back made by Penrite...incidentally I have an interesting article by Penrite about the additives they use etc titled "Technical bulletin No85 May 2005". Unable to copy/paste it but can send email you a copy if anyone wants it.
Cheers from Marty

I found it doing a google search.

I am not confident enough to buy 10 litres of the stuff in case it is no good. Penrite don't have much performance data to back up its quality.

I hope one of the Aussies can do a test on it.

Penrite are a Thick Is Good oil company.I used to use their 25/70 in an oil burning MKII Escort with good results. When I finally pulled it down it was in perfect nick, just needed a set of rings,no bore wear and I used the old bearings again.

We have a 20 of Repco diesel oil as a standby if our 300 litre bulk tank of Fuchs runs out.I better read the label tomorrow - I thought it was beneath my notice.

Give the little guy a fair go ! I have used Penrite oils before in my cars, with absolutely no worries. Many riders I know scoffed at me using HD oil in my bikes, "your clutch will slip", "you will burn oil", "you will destroy your bearings". Well they can go on paying 9-12$ for their prestige "motorcyle" oils , my '85 & '92 engines run real smooth at half the price. Penrite at less than 4$ a litre is a bargain in my book and I have no doubt that it will be just fine. One Vmax drag racing guru in the USA even stated that "any" oil is good oil ! Never mind the #$%^&*@'s here's the sex pistols.

Here we go reply from Penrite:
Thank you for the email.
The Repco 15W-40 CI-4/SL product does not contain any friction modifiers: the boron in the formulation is there as an anti wear agent.

Thanks Alan,
Nice healthy qunatities to keep an engine running clean, but can you tell me is the Boron a dedicated "friction modifier" or anti foaming agent or a cleaning agent or a combination of these ?
Many thanks, Marty
